GoKo - Coconut Water Supporting the Community
In March 2020, GoKo Energy drinks was able to contribute to the LEE Initiative relief center in Los Angeles set up by Chef Edward Lee and sponsored by Makers Mark. The temporary relief center at the Mozzaplex’s Chi Spacca restaurant aided restaurant workers adversely affected by the novel coronavirus shutdown. “The doors at Chi Spacca opened to out-of-work restaurant employees in need of a free meal and supplies,” reported the Los Angeles Times. Famed chef-owner Nancy Silverton was among those who helped prepare and serve meals and give out supplies for those in dire need. GoKo Energy drinks contributed 30 cases of sparkling natural coconut water to this amazing effort.
CBS LA covered the LEE Initiative’s inaugural outreach in Los Angeles. (The story is also available on youtube.com).  Since the LEE Initiative program began, more than 100,000 restaurant workers across the U.S. have received meals and supplies at 19 partner restaurants.
For those who are able to donate, the LEE Initiative also set up a Restaurant Workers Relief Fund. Thank you to the LEE Initiative for this meaningful response to the plight of restaurant workers.
